Take your embroidery to a new level

When teaching classes in hand embroidery for the past few years I've come to learn that there are two motivators in learning and practicing hand embroidery - either it is the final outcome or the challenge of a new technique. I offer you both.

Raisedwork, know as Stumpwork as well, is a technique known for stitched figures being raised from the surface of the work to form a 3-dimensional effect.

This course offers to learn Raisedwork embroidery fundamentals of creating texture and raised relief with multiple contrasting materials, high texture stitches and ways of building up volume while stitching your own anatomical heart.

Starting with how to frame up for the work, choose materials, transfer the design and plan an order of work till finishing your piece in a frame or even as wearable pin to show it off, this is a full package deal.

Elīza Māra

with BA in Hand Embroidery from Royal School of Needlework I run my own professional practice and tutor classes in contemporary embroidery online and in person. My passion for hand embroidery lies in detaching connotations of beauty, femininity and flora from stitch, and turning to interpretations of beauty through brutalism, realism and man made materials.

  • This course will be available for you after purchase for unlimited time. Rewatch and revisit whenever, wherever.

  • No, the course is structured and filmed so you can stitch it independently, however there is a support group for the course participants to share your progress, ask questions and give feedback. I will be following everyones progress in the group and can be reached there!
