The subject matter of the collection are tiled exteriors of Soviet built apartment housing, in their natural habitat the tiles are placed inconsistently and in best Soviet construction practices - in low quality. Despite the quality, the tile presents different effects of pearlescent shine and glimmer, as well as flat and matt look when viewed directly front on. This photo is of the building I have lived for the most of my life - series 602. In the recent years the tiles are falling out from the façade and are creating decorative compositions in the wall.
Pattern when stitched on 16ct Aida measures 15 x 15 cm and is made up from 10 shades of DMC Stranded Cotton.
